Coaches who can do
We have an Athlete Development Pathway informed by experience. Our Head Coaches Jamie Geraghty and Aaron Fitzpatrick are Ireland’s first representatives at the WSWCF World Championships. Jamie holds a Master's Degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology. Aaron holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management and Coaching. Both have a combined experience of over 30 years coaching. Every coach within the club has attained REPs Accredited Calisthenics Coaching Certificates. These programmes have been developed by Jamie and Aaron, and these are leading the way in terms of best practice for coaches of Calisthenics.
Athlete Development Pathway
Our pathway is designed to provide the right level of support based on an athlete's needs and developmental stage. We have clear and informed coaching structures in place for each stage of our pathway based on the class a person is participating in, providing the optimal level of challenge and support for young people to thrive.
Community that lifts
Our primary aim is to create a space where people feel a sense of belonging. Before any physical development can occur, a young person has to feel as though they have a sense of psychological safety within an environment. We want each person who joins us to feel as though they have become part of a community, and that Bar Monkey is a part of their social identity – creating a sense of purpose connection with others.
Big, fully equipped space
Our facility in Gorey is Ireland’s largest Calisthenics – specific premises in the country. With two floors, a dedicated gym space with soft flooring, crash mats and equipment designed for freestyle calisthenics – this is a centre of excellence that enables athletes and young people to thrive. The gym is built by athletes – for athletes.
